São Paulo Police Seize 34,000 Counterfeit Auto Parts from Auto Parts Stores in SBC

DEIC police officers executed nine search and seizure warrants in the city of São Paulo and in São Bernardo do Campo; three suspects were arrested in the act.

Approximately 34,000 counterfeit auto parts were seized by the Civil Police from auto parts stores operating in the city of São Paulo and in São Bernardo do Campo, in the ABC region. The operation, carried out on Wednesday (10), is the result of an investigation that began in May of this year.

The searches took place after the court authorized the execution of nine search warrants in the two cities. A total of 4,000 counterfeit components bearing the logos of automotive manufacturers were seized, along with more than 30,000 parts with no indication of origin. Technical representatives from the affected brands monitored the operation and confirmed evidence of counterfeiting in the products found at the inspected establishments.

Police also confiscated cell phones, laptops, computers, and other equipment, which will be examined by forensic experts. Three individuals, aged 32, 38, and 57, were arrested in the act.

The operation was led by agents from the 4th Police Station for Investigations into Cargo Theft and Robbery (Divecar), part of the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), who uncovered the illegal scheme.

The seizures took place as part of the second phase of Operation Matrix Paralela. In the previous phase, police executed two search warrants in Diadema and São Bernardo do Campo. At that time, approximately 80,000 automotive parts were seized, and one person was arrested in the act.
