PRF Seizes About 2,200 Pairs of Suspected Counterfeit Shoes Being Transported from Nova Serrana

The shipment was headed to Aparecida, in São Paulo, without tax documentation; the products imitated well-known brands
On Saturday morning (27), the Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized a shipment of approximately 2,200 pairs of shoes suspected of being counterfeit during an inspection on BR-459 in Lorena, in the interior of São Paulo.
The stop occurred at km 30 of the highway. During the inspection, officers stopped a truck occupied by two people. The driver reported that he was transporting shoes from Nova Serrana, in the Central-West region of Minas Gerais, to the city of Aparecida (SP).
When asked about the cargo’s tax documentation, the driver stated that he did not have any proof of payment.
Products Imitated Well-Known Brands
In the absence of an invoice, the officers conducted an inspection of the vehicle’s cargo compartment. Inside the cargo area, they found a large quantity of shoes with visual characteristics similar to those of widely recognized brands on the market.
Among the identified brands were Adidas, Mizuno, Nike, and Lacoste. According to the PRF, the products showed signs of counterfeiting.
In total, approximately 2,200 pairs of shoes were counted.
Cargo and vehicle were seized
The driver informed the police that he was not the owner of the merchandise and was merely transporting the cargo.
In light of the situation, the truck’s occupants, the vehicle, and all the merchandise were taken to the Judicial Police Center (CPJ) in Lorena.
Police authorities ordered the seizure of the cargo and the truck to facilitate further investigations. The case will be investigated through a police inquiry to verify the origin of the products and determine whether crimes related to counterfeiting and the illegal transport of goods were committed.
