Operation Foco Seizes Over R$400,000 in Weight-Loss Drugs in Itatiaia
The shipment was coming from São Paulo and headed for Espírito Santo; it was hidden in a box truck carrying various goods
On Monday (July 27), Operation Foco seized a shipment of medications at the Itatiaia–Nhangapi Customs Checkpoint. The shipment, which departed from São Paulo (Brás), was bound for Espírito Santo and was being transported in a box truck along with other products, such as electric bicycles and underwear. To reach its final destination, the truck had to pass through Rio de Janeiro and was stopped at the Itatiaia Customs Checkpoint.
A total of 69 units of tirzepatide, 192 vials of retatrutide, and 2 units of peptides were seized. Tirzepatide and retatrutide are substances used in treatments for diabetes and weight loss, and their sale is regulated by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa). The seized products were not registered with Anvisa, and the shipment is valued at over R$400,000.
The materials were forwarded to the 99th Police Precinct, where they were retained.
This case underscores the efforts of the Institutional Security Office (GSI), through Operation Foco, to monitor shipments crossing the state’s borders.
