Federal Revenue Service Seizes Million-Reais Shipment of Weight-Loss Drugs on BR-277
More than 5,800 vials were hidden in a false bottom of a vehicle stopped in São Miguel do Iguaçu; the driver was taken to the Federal Police.

On Wednesday morning (22), the Federal Revenue Service seized approximately 5,820 vials of weight-loss drugs hidden in a vehicle stopped during a routine inspection on BR-277, near São Miguel do Iguaçu. The shipment was valued at approximately R$800,000.
The stop occurred around 6 a.m. The driver, a Brazilian citizen and owner of the goods, was driving a vehicle with Brazilian license plates. During the inspection, he told the agents that he worked as a mechanic and was heading to the city of Cascavel to serve a customer.
However, the driver’s nervous behavior raised suspicions among the Federal Revenue Service team. Given the situation, the vehicle was taken to the Federal Revenue Service Customs office in Foz do Iguaçu, where a detailed inspection revealed a false bottom in the vehicle’s side panels.
In the hidden compartment, officials found more than 5,800 vials of weight-loss medication, totaling 5,820 units. The driver was handed over to the Federal Police for appropriate legal action. The vehicle and the medications remain seized at the Federal Revenue Service Customs office in Foz do Iguaçu.
