Federal Revenue launches operation to combat smuggling in Natal
The action took place this Thursday morning (30) in 15 stores, distributed in Alecrim – the largest shopping center in the city.
The Federal Revenue, with the support of the Federal Highway Police, launched this Thursday (30) an operation to repress smuggling in Alecrim, the largest commercial district in Natal.
The action took place in 15 stores, distributed along Avenida Presidente Quaresma; Colonel Estevam, Leonel Leite; and President Bandeira.
According to the Internal Revenue Service, the target stores of the operation are medium-sized that are dedicated essentially to the sale of counterfeit goods.
Due to the proximity of Children’s Day, the target goods are mostly fake toys, but also pirated and misguided clothes, bags, shoes, electronics and accessories.
40 employees of the Internal Revenue Service, plus 7 drivers and 6 teams from the Federal Highway Police participate in the operation.
Law firms representing the different brands provide operational and legal support during the transaction. According to the Revenue, these offices will also be responsible for making the reports confirming the falsity of the goods.
The main irregularities found by the Revenue Service in commercial establishments are the lack of a guarantee seal from Inmetro on toys, evidence of counterfeiting – when the product is counterfeited and sold at a price below the brand value, in addition to illegal imports.
In this first phase of the operation, the suspicious goods will be retained for analysis and quantitative survey. According to the Federal Revenue, “the action prevents the circulation of potentially harmful to health products in the national territory, inhibiting the practice of crimes that generate unemployment, tax evasion and unfair competition to industry and commerce that is regularly installed”.
