Arrests and more than 400 boxes of beverages seized in Araranguá and Santa Rosa do Sul
Following anonymous information of a potential crime of smuggling in a warehouse located on the BR-101, in Parque Rosita, Santa Rosa do Sul the Military Police noted an intense movement on the area, early Saturday morning, the 25th.
After some vehicles left the location, the police, with the support of another vehicle, approached the vehicles and their drivers. One of them was in front of a bus and the other behind.
When searching the cars, nothing illegal was found, but in the trunk of the bus were found approximately four hundred boxes containing wines, sparkling wines, vodka, whisky, among other drinks. Each box contained, on average, six bottles.
When questioned about the cargo, the bus driver said he had been called by one of them to do the transport to the city of Araranguá. In conversation with another, he said he didn’t have any receipts for the products. Then they went to the warehouse together with the people approached and there were more than two hundred bottles of several beverages, mostly of high value.
One of the approached confessed to have in the city of Araranguá, a few more boxes in a warehouse on Getúlio Vargas Avenue, where they would take the beverages. Upon arriving at the location, the police found approximately 150 bottles of wine.
Those involved and the cargo were conducted to the Federal Police in Criciúma for the applicable procedures.
