PRF seizes truck with goods valued at more than 5 million reais

This was one of the largest seizures of goods on federal highways in RS in 2018.

PRF (Federal Highway Police) seized a truck loaded with foreign goods, valued at about R$ 5 million, on Sunday night (10th) at BR 290 in Rosario do Sul. During anti-crime inspection activities, the PRFs approached a truck that was going to São Gabriel through BR 290 road and, upon inspecting the cargo compartment, found a large quantity of products without proper customs clearance.

Most of the transported goods consisted of medical equipment, food supplements, medicines, cell phones, electronic devices and clothing. It is estimated that the value of the goods can reach 5 million reais.

The truck driver, a 36-year-old man from Santana do Livramento, informed the police that he would take the cargo to Porto Alegre. He was arrested and referred to the Federal Police of Santana do Livramento. The cart, which will be seized and given loss of good, and the merchandise were retained and will be forwarded to the IRS.
