Police seize more than 30,000 counterfeit shoes and bags in BA; products are valued at R $ 815 thous

The operation was carried out by Decarga and had the support of the PRF; four were taken to the police station. The seizure took place on BR-116, in Feira de Santana.

 

Over 30,000 pairs of counterfeit shoes and sandals, in addition to 60 bags were seized during a joint operation by the Highway Burglary and Burglary Police (Decarga) and agents of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) in Bahia.

 

According to the Civil Police, the seizure occurred last Friday (10), on BR-116, in Feira de Santana, a city about 100 km from Salvador. All products were valued at R$ 815,000.

 

The police detailed that the cargo left the state of Minas Gerais and would be sold in several malls in the Northeast region. The material was transported in a cart that was intercepted by the police at Km-423, on the BR-116. The 36-year-old driver and three other occupants of the vehicle were taken to the specialist’s headquarters in Feira de Santana. No details were given as to whether the men sent to the police station were heard and released.

 

Police detailed that 11,226 pairs of counterfeit shoes and sneakers of various brands, including designer brands, were found to be valued at more than R $ 510,000, more than 20,000 pairs of sandals, also counterfeit valued at R $ 300,000, and another 60 bags, whose police estimate value in more than R $ 5,000.

 

The chief of Decarga, delegate Gustavo Coutinho, explained that counterfeit products, often sold as originals, harm the consumer financially, who is still at risk when using a product that does not follow the quality criteria. According to the delegate, all cargo will be forwarded to the Federal Revenue.
