Military Police Seize Illegal Shipment of Weight-Loss Medications and Anabolic Steroids
The Man was Arrested in the Act During a Stop and Suspected of Smuggling
Military police officers from the 4th Regional Command arrested a 33-year-old man on Monday, the 5th, on suspicion of smuggling during a stop on an interstate bus in the municipality of Itiquira. The teams seized a shipment of weight-loss medications and anabolic steroids.
According to the police report, military police officers from the 5th Battalion were called in after inspectors from the Rio Corrente Checkpoint stopped the vehicle on a stretch of the BR-163 highway and discovered a suitcase containing various medications believed to be of illicit origin.
Part of the shipment was hidden in a false bottom of a black suitcase in the vehicle’s luggage compartment. During the search, the teams identified approximately 621 units of products from various brands. In addition to the medications, the officers also seized a cell phone and perfumes.
The military police then identified and approached the suspect inside the vehicle. However, the man provided no information regarding the origin or destination of the seized medications. The suspect was taken to the Federal Police along with the seized items to file a police report.
