Federal Agencies Call for a Public Hearing on Illegal Products on Digital Platforms

The National Council for Combating Piracy and Intellectual Property Crimes (CNCP), the Technical Committee on Quality Infrastructure (CTIQ/Conmetro), the National Secretariat for Digital Rights of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, and the Secretariat for Digital Policies of the Office of the President have announced a public hearing on the sale of counterfeit and non-compliant products on digital platforms. Public Notice No. 1/2026/CNCP was published in the Federal Official Gazette on September 11, 2026, and is dated September 4, 2026.

The hearing will be held on September 14, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Tancredo Neves Auditorium at the Palace of Justice in Brasília (DF), in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online participation. Registration for attendees will remain open for 10 consecutive calendar days from the date of publication of the notice, via an online form available on the CNCP website and the Single Portal for Quality Infrastructure.

The call for proposals also sets a deadline for the submission of input and contributions from civil society, the academic community, public agencies, consumer protection organizations, rights holders, the private sector, digital platforms, and other interested parties. Documents must be sent to the email address cncp@mj.gov.br within 10 business days of the notice’s publication, by 5:00 p.m. on the last day.

The consultation seeks to gather input on the commercialization of these products and their impacts on consumer rights, intellectual property, safety, and the economic environment.
