Nearly 2,000 boxes of weight-loss pills seized from a rice shipment in São Paulo
In addition to the pills, more than 1,200 cell phones without receipts were also seized; the goods were found in false bottoms of a truck
A shipment containing more than 1,800 boxes of weight-loss drugs and more than 1,200 cell phones without receipts was found hidden in a truck carrying rice last Sunday (5) on the Raposo Tavares Highway in Palmital, in the interior of São Paulo.
The seizure took place during an operation by the Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Federal Police’s Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime, when officers stopped the truck, which was pulling two semi-trailers.
According to the SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat), the products were found in false bottoms during an inspection of the vehicle.
The truck’s driver and passenger, both of whom had prior criminal records, were arrested in the act.
The vehicle and the goods were seized and sent for forensic analysis. The case was filed at the Federal Police station in Marília, another city in the interior of São Paulo state.
