Nike, Adidas, and Lacoste: over R$ 2 million in counterfeit goods seized in Santa Catarina
Operation seized 45,000 counterfeit items from outlet stores in Greater Florianópolis and in the north of the state; trucks carrying pirated goods were intercepted.
Approximately 45,000 pirated items intended for sale were seized in Santa Catarina last week. The products, originating from establishments in Biguaçu, in Greater Florianópolis, and Jaraguá do Sul, in the north of the state, are valued at R$ 2.3 million.
The seizures were carried out on three simultaneous fronts by the PCSC (Civil Police of Santa Catarina), Procon-SC, and the State Revenue Service.
Counterfeit products in SC imitated brands such as Nike and Adidas
Among the products that would be sold were clothing items such as shoes, caps, and clothing in general. In addition to these, accessories, watches, and perfumes were also found. They imitated famous international brands such as Nike, Adidas, Emporio Armani, Lacoste, and Tommy Hilfiger.
In addition to the goods, electronic devices and documents were seized by the police. The operations took place last Thursday (29) in Biguaçu and on Wednesday (28) in two stores in Jaraguá do Sul.
Also on the 29th, two trucks were intercepted with pirated items linked to the same criminal network. The vehicles were stopped in Jaraguá do Sul and São José.
Seizure of counterfeit goods in SC investigates ‘outlets’
The DCAC-DEIC (Environmental Crimes and Consumer Relations Investigation Unit) monitors the activities of outlet store chains selling counterfeit clothing in Santa Catarina.
In December, an outlet in São José was shut down twice in less than 10 days and had more than 15,000 items seized.
The investigation identified the operations and distribution chain of these groups, with branches in different municipalities across the state. Those investigated will be charged with crimes against intangible property, consumer relations, tax regulations, and criminal association.
