Truck carrying BRL3 million worth of illegal perfumes seized in Dom Pedrito

On Friday, the Highway Patrol seized a truck carrying more than 50,000 bottles of illegally imported perfume, valued at almost R$ 3 million. The vehicle was stopped on the BR-293 highway during a crime-fighting operation.

The vehicle, with license plates from Caxias do Sul, was transporting about 500 boxes without invoices. The driver, a 55-year-old native of Caxias, was arrested and taken to the Judicial Police in Sant’Ana do Livramento, where he will be charged with smuggling.

The police warn that this type of smuggling harms legal trade and can pose a health risk, since the products are not inspected by Anvisa.
