Enforcement activities – PMRv seizes 1,000 bottles of wine in operation in the West

An operation by the Military Highway Police (PMRv) resulted in the seizure of around 1,000 bottles of Argentine wine and electronics without receipts early on Saturday evening (20), at km 0.050 of the SC-155 highway in Abelardo Luz, in western Santa Catarina.

The action was part of traffic enforcement and cross-border crime prevention efforts. The tour bus, registered in Paraná, was returning from Foz do Iguaçu to Curitiba when it was stopped by the Bom Jesus Post 09 garrison.

Approximately 200 boxes of wine were found in the luggage compartment, totaling 1,000 bottles, valued at around R$ 100,000. There was also a bag with electronics and three speakers, with no identification of ownership, with an estimated value of R$ 10,000.

During individual interviews, the passengers denied possession of the goods. The driver and owner of the tourism company stated that he had purchased the wines in Argentina, with delivery to Foz do Iguaçu.

The Federal Revenue Service was called in, monitored the incident, and ordered the seizure of the bus, the wine, and the electronics. The material was sealed and sent to the Federal Revenue Service in Joaçaba, where it remains available for legal proceedings.

The total value of the seized goods, including the vehicle, was estimated at R$ 290,000. The case was registered as a crime of smuggling.
