Enforcement activities – Stores selling counterfeit goods targeted in operation in Santo Ângelo

An operation carried out on Tuesday morning, 12, in Santo Ângelo resulted in the seizure of several contraband/smuggled products that were being sold in local stores.

The operation, launched by the Federal Revenue Service with support from the Civil Police, targeted three companies that, according to investigations, had been selling products that entered the country illegally.

During the inspection, carried out under court orders, various goods with signs of counterfeiting were seized, such as shoes, clothing, perfumes, electronics, toys, thermal cups, among other items. The business owners involved will be charged with crimes against intellectual property, commonly known as piracy.

The operation by the Internal Revenue Service is part of an integrated effort carried out in different locations across the country, aimed at curbing the illegal trade of goods, as well as being part of an investigation into a network specializing in this type of crime.

The stores were not prohibited from operating, but various goods were seized, totaling 281 items, worth approximately R$ 700,000.
To transport the seized goods, the police used a truck and two vans.
