Enforcement activities – Federal Revenue Service seizes R$700,000 in foreign goods in operation on the roads of central Paraná
The Federal Revenue Service’s Surveillance and Repression teams carried out a routine operation to combat smuggling, embezzlement and other crimes during the night of Tuesday, May 20, and the early hours of Wednesday, May 21, in the BR-277 region between the municipalities of Irati/PR and Porto Amazonas/PR, in central Paraná.
During the operation, 14 regular buses from the Foz do Iguaçu border region to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and other states were inspected, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of goods of foreign origin in an irregular situation, such as electronics, cell phones, electronic cigarettes and computer articles, products valued at approximately R$700,000.
The seized goods were hidden in hand luggage and in luggage packed in the specific compartments of the buses. The foreign goods in an irregular situation were sent to the Federal Revenue Service’s Seized Goods Warehouse in Ponta Grossa/PR and are likely to be subject to the penalty of forfeiture.
As an essential activity for the protection of society and the State, the Federal Revenue Service works routinely, with employees who work tirelessly to combat smuggling, embezzlement and other cross-border crimes, in defense of public security, national sovereignty and society itself.
