Enforcement activities – Civil Police seize 2,500 counterfeit items in anti-piracy operation in Diadema
In an offensive against illegal trade, the Diadema Civil Police carried out Operation False Ostentation on Wednesday (21st), focusing on stores that sell counterfeit products from international brands. The action was led by the municipality’s 4th Police District.
During the searches, approximately 2,500 items were seized, including clothes, shoes, perfumes and accessories that imitated high-end brands. The items were on sale in establishments in the Inamar, Eldorado and Conceição neighborhoods.
With the support of official representatives of the damaged brands, the agents identified irregularities in the details of the garments and confirmed the counterfeiting. A total of 11 civil police officers took part in the operation.
According to the Diadema Regional Delegate, the investigation will progress over the next few days. The aim is to locate those responsible for distributing the products and dismantle the supply chain that feeds the clandestine trade.
The smuggling scenario in Brazil is worrying. A survey by the Brazilian Association for Combating Counterfeiting (ABCF) shows that, between 2023 and 2024, the damage caused by piracy increased by 27%, reaching R$ 471 million in losses for the industry and public coffers.
