Enforcement activities – Federal Revenue Service seizes seven buses with illegal goods in São Miguel do Iguaçu

On Saturday (26/04), the Federal Revenue Customs Office in Foz do Iguaçu carried out an operation that resulted in the seizure of seven buses loaded with goods that had a commercial destination, in violation of customs legislation. The value of the seizures was estimated at R$1,200,000.00 in irregular items.

The first vehicle was stopped in the morning at the São Miguel do Iguaçu tollbooth. In the early evening, another six buses were intercepted on the banks of the BR-277 highway, near São Miguel do Iguaçu. The action was supported by the Border Police Battalion (BPFRON) to take the vehicles to the Federal Revenue Customs Office in Foz do Iguaçu.

All the buses and their passengers were searched on the premises of the Federal Revenue Service. During the inspection, goods were found hidden in the upper part of the vehicles and in the bodies of the passengers.

No arrests have been made, but criminal charges will be brought before the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office. The vehicles and goods were detained, as indicated in the protocol.

The Federal Revenue Service emphasizes its commitment to combating trafficking, smuggling and embezzlement for the sake of national security, in line with its institutional mission.
