PCDF seizes more than 11,000 counterfeit shoes in anti-piracy operation
Last Monday (February 3), the Federal District Civil Police (PCDF) carried out the second phase of Operation Simulato, to combat piracy. The action was conducted by the Division for the Repression of Crimes against Immaterial Property (DRCPIM), linked to the Coordination for the Repression of Crimes against Consumers, Immaterial Property and Fraud (Corf), and was supported by Procon-DF.
During the operation, more than 11,000 pairs of counterfeit shoes were seized and destroyed. The products were copies of models from national and international brands and were on sale in two stores located in Taguatinga and Ceilândia.
According to the PCDF, the seizure represented an estimated loss of R$1 million for the criminal group involved in selling the counterfeit products. The investigation continues in order to identify others possibly involved in the scheme.
