Federal Revenue seizes R$200,000 in goods in Ribeirão Preto
Seizures occurred in four stores in Ribeirão Preto last Wednesday (22); traders will be able to question the seizure.
The Federal Revenue Service seized R$200,000 in suspected counterfeit goods in Ribeirão Preto. The operation took place last Wednesday (22) in four stores in various parts of the city – the locations have not been disclosed.
According to the Receita Federal, the goods seized allegedly “imitated famous brands”. Three vehicles and ten officers were used during the operation.
The agency said that each merchant has been given the legal deadline to file a defense. If the irregularity of the products is proven, the penalty of forfeiture will be applied to the goods.
The case will also be reported to the MPF (Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office), in addition to other measures against the practice of piracy.
