PM seizes vehicle loaded with cigarettes in the interior of Toledo
A vehicle loaded with 2,750 packets of smuggled cigarettes was seized by the Military Police on Sunday afternoon (6), on the municipal road that connects the locality of Linha São Salvador to Vila Cerro da Lola, in Toledo.
Members of the ALI (Local Intelligence Agency) were on patrol as part of Operation Horus when they tried to approach a Volkswagen Saveiro, which was carrying several cigarette boxes in the body. The driver ignored the stop order and fled for a few kilometres until he abandoned the vehicle and ran into a wooded area.
The Saveiro and the contraband were sent to the Federal Revenue Service warehouse in Cascavel. The estimated loss to smugglers is BRL 170 thousand.
