Half a ton of goods are seized in Florianopolis

Approximately 500 thousand kilograms of goods were seized on Friday (5th) in an operation from the Florianopolis Department of Public Services (Sesp) against illegal trade, the Office of Communication informed. The action took place in downtown, near the Downtown Integration Terminal (TICEN).

According to the Sesp, they seized several goods such as tennis, CDs and cell phone chargers. The operation received support from the local police.

The secretary Wilson Vergílio Rabelo stated that the legal power of Sesp is limited to the seizure of goods on the streets. The investigation about the origin, suppliers, how they enter in the country, the current situation of foreign street vendors and if there is a connection with the organized crime is the responsibility federal and state governments.

For Rabello, another problem in relation to illegal trade is the consumers, because without a market, these businesses would not exist. He mentioned that this year there was an increase in 50% in the number of officials and operations. “We are doing our job, and if everyone will do their part, this problem will be solved”, he said.
