Thousands of illegal toys and electronics seized from shops in the centre of Uberlândia
Thousands of toys and electronics were seized from at least five shops in the centre of Uberlândia on Thursday morning (5) during a Procon inspection. The action is part of operation “Fake Toy” and is being carried out in partnership with the Civil Police and the City Hall.
Among the products seized were headphones with fake seals from the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), children’s backpacks and various types of toys. The total number of goods seized has not yet been announced.
According to Procon’s superintendent, Egmar Ferraz, the aim of the operation is to protect children from products that have no guarantee of safety on the eve of Children’s Day, which falls on 12 October.”A counterfeit toy or one that hasn’t passed the Inmetro seal can cause serious health risks for children. The toy can be easily dismantled or contain chemicals that you don’t notice. So parents need to be vigilant and buy original products.”, he said.
According to Egmar, the inspections also combat the smuggling of goods with no origin.
