Survey shows more than 400 websites of piracy, with 1,7 billion visitors

A survey carried out by the consulting agency Tendências shows that there are nowadays more than 400 websites of audiovisual counterfeiting focused on the Brazilian market. These pages, according to the results, had 1, 7 billion visitors between December 2015 and May of this year.

 

The survey also shows that, with such numbers, it is possible to predict an impact of R$ 3, 5 billion on GDP. This study was done by request of the Motion Picture Association and with the support from the Union of Audiovisual Industry (Sicav).

 

On this Thursday (13), the Federal Police carried out the second phase of the operation Barba Negra, an operation that eliminated an organization specialized in crimes against copyright on the internet. According to the Federal Police, the websites (that belong to the 400 sites mentioned by Tendencias) operate illegally in Brazil.

 

When the first phase of the operation was launched in November 2015, the blog showed that the couple suspected of managing the Mega Filmes HD website (named by the Federal Police PF as the largest portal of movies distribution for Latin American without proper payment of copyright), celebrated openly the business success.
