SEFA seizes BRL 286,000 in goods without invoice
A truck carrying BRL 286 thousand in goods without fiscal note was seized by inspectors of the Finance Secretariat of Pará (SEFA) in Cachoeira do Piriá, in northeastern Pará, near the state of Maranhão (MA).
The cargo, which came from Rio Grande do Norte and Paraiba, was composed of clothing, perfumery, toys and shoes. “The invoice they presented during the inspection in the fiscal unit of Gurupi was cement worth BRL 48,187.18, almost five times lower than it was actually worth. But the inspection decided to make the physical conference of the cargo and found that there were goods – clothing, perfumes and hammocks – worth BRL 286,030.00 unaccompanied by invoice. It is a common occurrence in foreign exchange,” explained the coordinator of the tax unit of Gurupi, Marlon Santos.
Also according to Marlon, mixing several goods in an attempt to bypass the collection of tax by hiding cargo in the middle of the products is prohibited. Some items were destined for the state of Pará and others would be transported to Amapá and Amazonas. A Writ of Seizure and Deposit (TAD) was drawn up in the amount of BRL 156,515.62, relating to tax and fine.
