PRF seizes truck loaded with R$ 500 thousand of foreign goods in Bagé

A Mercedes-Benz truck, registered in Venâncio Aires, was apprehended while traveling on the BR-153, in Bagé. The action of the Federal Highway Police took place on the morning of Monday (29). During the approach, the driver, a 36-year-old Uruguayan, was unable to explain what he was carrying. Federal agents carried out searches and found, in the cargo compartment, a large number of equipments of foreign origin. The goods, imported illegally, were valued at almost half a million reais.
A couple traveling in a Toro, providing support to the truck driver, were also approached. The 44-year-old driver tried to present false documents to the police. According to PRF, Toro had license plates cloned from another vehicle, which was in good standing. However, after analyzing some identification signs, it was discovered that she was registered in Viamão and had been robbed at gunpoint during a house robbery in January last year.
The drivers of the two vehicles and the 29-year-old Toro passenger, were arrested and referred to the local judicial police for the crimes of embezzlement, reception and criminal association.
