PRF seizes 1,450 litres of beverages with irregular invoices in Mimoso do Sul
On Thursday morning (5), the Federal Highway Police seized 1,450 litres of various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at km 461 of the BR-101 highway, in the municipality of Mimoso do Sul, all of which were being transported with irregular invoices, in violation of tax legislation.
Federal highway police officers, carrying out checks to combat crime as part of Operation Terminus, stopped a white van with Rio de Janeiro plates, driven by a 37-year-old man.
When the driver was asked about the documentation for the goods, he presented an invoice issued by a retail company and addressed to another company, a beverage distributor. Inside the SUV, various types of beverage bottles were found, including beers, wines, various types of spirits, energy drinks, soda and coconut water, totalling 1,450 litres.
When asked, the driver said that the cargo would be delivered to various customers in the state of Espírito Santo, but he couldn’t say which cities they would be in. When they analysed the invoice presented, the federal agents discovered that the goods were actually to be delivered not to the state of Espírito Santo, but to Teresina, in Piaui.
Considering that the information provided by the suspect differed from the information on the invoice, the fact was brought to the attention of the Espírito Santo State Treasury Department (Sefaz) so that the tax status of the products could be verified.
In view of the information obtained, the transport of national goods without an invoice was found to be illegal and the driver, vehicle and goods were sent to the State Revenue Office in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim for the appropriate measures.
