Police seizes four tons of counterfeited products in the Gardênia Azul militia area

One person was arrested during the operation held this afternoon.

The Civil Police seized about four tons of counterfeit products at a depot controlled by the Gardênia Azul militia in Jacarepaguá, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The quantity of goods – clothes, shoes and labels – will be checked and transported to the City of Police. The operation was held by the Delegacy of Repression to Crimes against Immaterial Property (DRCPIM). A person was arrested in the act.

According to civil police, the material was hidden in a depot in the back of a store, on Anaparana Street 451. Counterfeited sneakers and shoes were taken there and then distributed throughout the city.

The militia that operates in Jardim Azul is considered as one of the most violent in Rio. Last month, the Civil Police arrested Leandro Sirqueira de Assis, known as Gargalhone or Head, appointed as head of the militia in the community of Gardênia Azul, in Jacarepaguá, West Zone. Gargalhone was arrested by agents of the 32nd DP (Taquara) when he was with his accomplices in a Toyota Corolla Preto and another white Golf car extorting local traders. After police operation, Leandro was arrested. With him were seized $ 40 thousand. According to police, Gargalhone is the successor of former councilman Cristiano Girão.
