Military Police seize vehicle loaded with almost BRL 700,000 in irregular goods in Ponta Porã
On Saturday (26), police from the Border Operations Department (DOF) made a significant seizure in Ponta Porã, where a Fiat Strada vehicle was intercepted on the BR-463 highway, loaded with almost BRL 700,000 in smuggled goods. During the operation, a 60-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were arrested.
The approach took place in the rural area of the municipality, where police officers carried out a thorough inspection of the vehicle. Several packages were found containing perfumery and electronic products, which were being transported without the proper tax documentation. When questioned about the origin of the goods, the couple revealed that they had bought the products in Pedro Juan Caballero, Paraguay, with the intention of delivering them to Dourados, where they would receive BRL 400 for the transportation.
The seized materials, valued at BRL 678,000, were sent to the Federal Revenue in Ponta Porã, where they will be processed in accordance with current legislation. The action is part of the Border and Border Protection Program, a collaboration between the State Secretariat for Justice and Public Security (Sejusp) and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), in partnership with Operation Border of the Federal Revenue and the Brazilian Army.
This type of operation aims to combat smuggling and smuggling in the region, ensuring the integrity of the borders and the protection of the national economy. The arrest of the couple and the seizure of the goods highlight the effective action of the security forces in confronting these illegal practices.
