Federal Revenue Service’s Operation Vigil seizes R$3 million in foreign products
Between March 31 and April 4, 2025, the Special Department of the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service launched an inspection operation on post offices and marketplace carriers located in the cities of Londrina and Maringá, in the state of Paraná, and detained 4,600 packages containing foreign products that had been smuggled into the country without paying taxes (smuggling), or even prohibited imports (contraband).
The goods have been preliminarily valued at 3 million reais, and will be accounted for at Foz do Iguaçu Customs from Monday, April 7.
The procedure involved integrated action by Direp/ALF/FOZ, Sarep/DRF/MGA, Savig/ALF/DCA and Direp/SRRF09 (Foz do Iguaçu, Maringá, Dionísio Cerqueira, Superintendence of the 9th RF), which provided human and logistical resources.
Among the smuggled products retained, Arab perfumes are the most prominent, followed by smartphones and Chinese robot vacuum cleaners.
Among the prohibited imports were testosterone of an unknown brand, Israeli minoxidil, as well as counterfeit clothing items and printer cartridges (brand counterfeiting).
