Federal Revenue seizes around R$ 10 million counterfeit toys.

This action was held in partnership with São Paulo City Hall at a mall on 25 de Março Street.

The Federal Revenue seized about $ 10 million in counterfeit toys in the region of 25 de Março street in an operation held on Wednesday (20).

The action taken jointly with the City of São Paulo and with the support of GCM (Municipal Civil Guard) happens after investigations that pointed out three major centers of illegal trade.

Among them are the galleries Fair Shop; Zuny and Unifree. According to the Federal Revenue, about 70 boxes were inspected, in addition to deposits.

Data from the National Forum to Combat Piracy – FNCP indicate that Brazil lost R $ 193 billion last year from the smuggling of goods, of which R $ 132 billion of productive losses from clothing, cigarettes, medicines, among others, and R $ 61 billion that the public power failed to raise.

The consumption of counterfeit toys can cause harm to children’s health, such as risk of suffocation, perforation of the skin and ingestion of small parts. Since November last year, the Legal Trade Operation of the São Paulo City Hall seized approximately 400 tons of pirated material. Commercial and ambulant establishments that sell irregular products will have their respective licenses canceled, in accordance with the municipal legislation in force, without prejudice to other criminal sanctions.
