Featured Repression – Military police seize R$70,000 in smuggled Argentine wine in Flor da Serra do Sul
Last Tuesday, June 10, at around 5:40 p.m., while on patrol in Flor da Serra do Sul, the Military Police spotted a GM/Captiva vehicle with tinted windows and visibly loaded. On being ordered to stop, the driver fled and was followed.
On a side road, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled into a wooded area, but was never found. Inside the car, 95 cases of wine of Argentinian origin were found, without proper customs clearance.
The cargo and the vehicle were valued at approximately R$70,000, representing a significant loss for the crime. The occurrence constitutes the crime of embezzlement, provided for in art. 334 of the Penal Code, with a penalty of imprisonment of 1 to 4 years.
The vehicle and the goods were sent to the Federal Revenue Service in Dionísio Cerqueira for legal proceedings.
