Enforcement activities – Truck is caught full of boxes of Chinese make-up and perfumes without invoices in SC

Aerial images taken by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) show a truck fully loaded with Chinese items without invoices in Concórdia, in the west of Santa Catarina.

The driver was stopped on Saturday afternoon (31) in front of the PRF operational unit. He also didn’t have an ‘E’ license, which is required to drive an articulated vehicle. The cargo and the truck were sent to the Federal Revenue Service yard.

The PRF estimates that there were hundreds of boxes of perfume, clothing, make-up and other items in the semi-trailer. The official count will be made by the Federal Revenue Service.

They were stacked in the cargo compartment with the inscriptions “made in China” and were to be taken to Brás, in São Paulo (SP).

Approach

The 45-year-old driver said he didn’t know what he was carrying when questioned. The PRF said it asked for the invoice for the goods, and the driver presented old documents that did not match the shipment.

The agents then removed the tarpaulin from the semi-trailer and observed the truck “clogged with boxes” without an invoice, according to the police.

The driver and the hitchhiker, aged 29, are from Uruguaiana (RS) and could be charged with the crime of embezzlement (article 334 of the Penal Code), which occurs when a product that could be imported regularly is introduced into the country illegally.
