Enforcement activities – Truck driver arrested with contraband cargo valued at R$ 6 million during inspection in MS

A man was arrested on Saturday (9) by Garras (Specialized Police Station for the Suppression of Bank Robbery, Assault, and Kidnapping) teams in Campo Grande after being caught transporting contraband valued at approximately R$ 6 million on local roads in the region. The police approach occurred during a routine operation aimed at combating parallel routes used by smugglers.

The inspection identified that the VW truck was transporting 46 bales of electronic cigarettes (vapes and pods), one bale of camera batteries, 21 bales containing various items—such as glasses, jackets, batteries, and miscellaneous objects—as well as agricultural fertilizers.

According to the driver, the cargo was destined for distribution in cities in the Lins (SP) region. At the time of the arrest, the truck was seized; the vehicle also attracted attention due to its value, estimated by the driver himself at R$ 700,000.

The case reinforces the intensified enforcement actions in Mato Grosso do Sul, focusing on clandestine routes and suspicious vehicles. Authorities continue to investigate the case, which is expected to result in charges of smuggling and embezzlement.
