Enforcement activities – PRF seizes new shipment of counterfeit sneakers bound for São Miguel do Oeste
The Federal Highway Police (PRF) of Paraná carried out a large seizure of a shipment of counterfeit sneakers bound for the city of São Miguel do Oeste. The operation took place last Sunday (24), marking the second time this year that a shipment of this type bound for the region has been intercepted by the PRF.
The approach was made on the BR-163 highway, around 9:20 p.m., to a Mercedes-Benz truck with Minas Gerais license plates. The police became suspicious of the cargo after the invoice, which described only 500 units of products, did not correspond to the volume transported. The invoice indicated that the cargo would be delivered to the São Gotardo neighborhood in São Miguel do Oeste, but authorities suspect that the address is in the name of a “front man” due to the high value of the merchandise.
In total, 10,998 pairs of shoes were seized, from brands such as Adidas, Nike, Puma, Vans, Jordan, Lacoste, Fila, and Caterpillar. The Federal Revenue Service valued the cargo at US$ 140,317.49, equivalent to approximately R$ 763,000.
The case was registered as copyright infringement, counterfeiting, smuggling, and illegal importation of goods. The truck and products were sent to the Federal Revenue Service for legal proceedings.
