Enforcement activities – Police set up roadblock and arrest father and son for smuggling Arab perfumes and sunglasses in Brasilândia

A father and son were arrested after an anonymous tip that both were smuggling contraband toward Brasilândia, 382 kilometers from Campo Grande. The operation took place last Wednesday (20), but was only made public on Thursday (21).

The operation began after an anonymous tip from the car rental company. According to the company employee, he reported that a car rented in the city of Três Lagoas had traveled to Paraguay and was returning at high speed, raising suspicions.

With this information, the police set up a roadblock on the road connecting Bataguassu to Brasilândia. The interception took place about 10 km before Brasilândia, already within the municipality. Inside the vehicle, where the father and son were, the police conducted a search and found a large quantity of goods.

144 boxes of Assad Arabic perfume, 600 pairs of sunglasses, and 700 padlocks were seized. The occupants of the vehicle confessed to having purchased the products in Paraguay with the intention of reselling them in Brazil, according to the website O Cenário MS.

The two were taken to the police station for the appropriate procedures. The goods were seized and sent to the Internal Revenue Service for further action.
