Enforcement activities – IRS operation seizes R$100,000 in foreign goods
Last Monday (02/06), the Federal Revenue Customs Office in Foz do Iguaçu launched an inspection operation on the Correios distribution center and marketplace carriers located in the city. Several items of foreign origin were detained, such as smartphones, tablets, bitcoin miners, perfumes, virtual reality glasses, computer accessories and others.
These products were smuggled into the country without having paid taxes, which constitutes the crime of embezzlement. In addition, items of prohibited import were found, which characterizes smuggling. The goods showed notable signs of commercial use.
The goods were preliminarily valued at R$100,000, and were sent for official accounting to Foz do Iguaçu Customs.
The Federal Revenue Service reinforces its commitment to combating these criminal practices in order to preserve national security and the economy.
