Military police from the DOF (Department of Border Operations) seized two trucks, a Scania 112 and an Iveco 320, with illegal contraband and contraband products on Sunday (6) in Campo Grande. Three men aged 46, 45 and 33 were arrested during the operation.
The soldiers were manning a roadblock on the MS-040, in a rural area of the town, when they approached the drivers. During an inspection of the vehicles, 94,122 units of glasses, 93,550 units of electronic cigarettes, 19,700 shisha essences, 8,000 tattoo needle cartridges, 8,000 pen drives, 669 perfumes, 400 cell phones and 95 packages of clothes were found.
The perpetrators told the police that they had picked up the goods in Campo Grande and would take them to the state of São Paulo, where they would receive around R$11,000 for the service.
The case was registered and handed over to the Federal Police in Campo Grande. The estimated loss to the crime was R$21.3 million.
The action involving DOF officers took place as part of the Border and Border Protection Program, a partnership between Sejusp (State Secretariat for Justice and Public Security) and the MJSP (Ministry of Justice and Public Security).
