Civil Police seize thousands of counterfeit products in Rio Preto

Vistorias alcançaram 18 estabelecimentos, incluindo pontos em shoppings, e identificaram itens de telefonia e vestuário de luxo irregulares

On Friday (February 20), the Civil Police carried out Operation Ostentação (Ostentation), with the aim of identifying and stopping the sale of counterfeit products in Rio Preto. The operation was coordinated by the Sectional Police Station and is part of a strategic plan to combat crimes against consumers.

In total, police inspected 18 commercial establishments, including stores located in shopping malls. During the investigations, thousands of telephone accessories were seized, such as cables, chargers, and items packaged with illegally reproduced brands, in addition to documents and devices related to the activity under investigation.

According to the Civil Police, some of the irregular electronic devices may pose a risk to consumers, especially chargers without proper certification, which have the potential to cause overheating and material damage.

In three of the locations inspected, the teams also found hundreds of luxury designer clothing items without proven authenticity. All the material was collected for analysis and will serve as a basis for further investigation.

The operation, linked to the regional planning of the São Paulo Interior 5 Judicial Police Department (Deinter-5), seeks to curb the circulation of illegal goods and strengthen consumer protection, preventing potentially dangerous products from continuing to be sold in the city’s formal or informal commerce.
