A thousand pairs of counterfeit sneakers are seized in a store.

More than a thousand pairs of shoes suspected of being counterfeit were seized from a store in central-western Brazil. On January 23, Procon Mato Grosso do Sul inspectors seized another 1,212 pairs of sneakers in Campo Grande, MS. The case was referred to the Specialized Police Station for the Suppression of Crimes against Consumer Relations (Decon), and the seized items were handed over to the Federal Revenue Service.

Counterfeit shoes seized in the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul were sent to the Federal Revenue.

A tip-off led inspectors to a retail store located in the center of the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul. At the store, they found sneakers being sold without the required invoice of origin, lacking mandatory information such as size and manufacturer identification, as well as evidence of counterfeiting, since the products imitated the characteristics of well-established brands on the market.

In total, 1,212 pairs of sneakers of various brands, models, and sizes were seized. As this was a case of counterfeiting, unauthorized reproduction, or trademark infringement, it was referred to Decon for investigation, while the seized items were handed over to the Federal Revenue Service.

Recurrence

In May last year, another inspection identified irregularities at the same company, such as failure to issue invoices, advertising that misled consumers about available payment methods, an expired operating license, and repeated sales of counterfeit or falsified products.
