42,000 packs of illegal cigarettes detained in Ponta Grossa/PR
The retention was valued at approximately R$284,000.
Tax analysts from the Surveillance and Repression Team (EVR) of the Federal Revenue Office in Ponta Grossa/PR acted on Thursday afternoon, the 30th, to detain a cargo containing 42,000 packs of illegal cigarettes in Ponta Grossa/PR.
During an inspection, officers searched the first semi-trailer of a bitrem truck, coming from the west of Paraná, and identified 84 boxes of the smuggled product on top of a legal load of soybeans. According to the driver, the boxes had been loaded in Cascavel/PR and would be taken to Curitiba for R$4,000.
The driver was taken to the Federal Police in Ponta Grossa and arrested for smuggling. The vehicles and the cargo of cigarettes (42,000 packets in total), valued at approximately R$ 284,000, were sent to the DRF/Ponta Grossa.
