PRF arrests smugglers with two lorries full of goods in Seberi
On Friday 11th night, the Federal Highway Police arrested two men for smuggling in Seberi, on the BR-386 motorway. They were coming from Paraguay carrying tyres, cigarettes and electronic cigarettes.
During an anti-crime inspection, the PRFs approached a truck with Arvorezinha licence plates. The driver, aged 51 and from Soledade, said he was taking a load of corn to the city of Arroio do Meio. When inspecting the load, the police found two tyres on top of it, which prompted the PRF team to carry out further checks.
Inside the cab, six new tyres were found on and under the seat, as well as 3,000 packets of smuggled cigarettes. Boxes containing hundreds of electronic cigarettes were found in the side compartments.
Another truck with llópolis plates, which was travelling together, was approached and found two more smuggled tyres, as well as another 3,000 packets of cigarettes and hundreds of electronic cigarettes hidden in the cab and side compartments. The 57-year-old driver, from Arvorezinha, said he had bought the products in Paraguay and was going to resell them.
The two men were arrested and taken to the police. The carts and the goods were seized by the Federal Revenue Service
