PRF seizes 2.4 million cigarette packages in Mato Grosso do Sul (MS); the largest in the country say
The amount was so large that 6 double trucks were transporting the load that came from Paraguay, according to PRF.
Federal Police Highway seized 2.4 million cigarette packagess in Jaraguari, city located 43km far from Campo Grande, this Saturday afternoon (20th). According to PRF, the seizure is the largest made this years in Brazil.
The amount of cigarettes was so large that 6 double trucks were transporting the load. PRF said that they suspected of the first vehicle. By taking the approach, they found the load. After that, more 5 double trucks were intercepted and the smuggling was found.
The six drivers were arrested in the act. As reported by PRF, they said the trucks were coming from Paraguay and were supposed to go to Rondonópolis in Mato Grosso do Sul (MT). They claimed to be from Goiânia and two of them had already been arrested for smuggling.
The prisoners, well as the load, were referred to the Federal Police in Campo Grande.
