More than 10 tons of tennis shoes without invoices are collected in Uruguaiana, estimates the police
The establishment where the products were located was closed by the military for products removal, which at the end of the night was not yet finished.
The Civil Police estimates that more than 10 tons of sneakers with unknown origins are being collected this afternoon (7th) in Uruguaiana, in the West Frontier of Rio Grande do Sul. The establishment where the products were located was closed by military personnel to do the removal, which at the end of the night had not yet been concluded.
The shoes were found during an inspection that started on Tuesday (6) and which was held by the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue, with the seizure of imported products such as electronics that the police believe to be smuggled. It was also seized an amount of Reais and foreign currency, which could be used for clandestine exchange.
The case of sneakers was passed on to the Civil Police due to the suspicion of intellectual property crime and against consumer relations. According to the delegate Alessandra Siqueira, the owner of the store presented invoices of Minas Gerais. However, the Civil Police contacted the manufacturers, and they reported that there are no industries in the informed source.
With the support of the Army, the police began the removal of the products, which would be sent to the Federal Revenue Service. The delegate estimates that more than 10 tons have already been transported.
“We are doing the weighing, we are not individualizing, which is impossible, I think it is going to be more than 10 tons.” In the morning, there were three trucks and five tons, and in the afternoon a lot of trucks left the place, “he said.
