Customs seizes 8,1 tons of electronics and clothing in Itatiaia/RJ
The operation had 30 officers from agencies involved in the Operation Barreira Fiscal in the State of Rio de Janeiro, State Secretariat and Department of Finance.
On June 14th and 15th, the Customs division of enforcement against smuggling and embezzlement of the 7th area carried out an interagency operation with officers from the Barreira Fiscal of Nhangapi, at Via Dutra, in Itatiaia/RJ.
They seized 8,1 tons of products, among electronics of foreign origin without any tax documentation and a high amount of garments, with evidence of counterfeiting – in its majority sporty items and tennis shoes. The cargo seized had their estimated value at R$2 million reais.
During the operation they inspected cars, buses and trucks. The majority of the items seized were being transported in buses, which were going from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro. The cargoes, from Brás in São Paulo, had the final destination the cities of Petrópolis, Duque de Caxias and Nova Iguaçu.
