Police seized counterfeit products valued at R$ 3 million at mall in Baixada
Civil police seized, this wednesday morning, about 2 tons of counterfeit products at a mall called Feirão das Malhas, in Duque de Caxias, Baixada Fluminense. The items are valued at R$ 3 million, according to the police.
The operation counted on the participation of 30 agents and was held by DRCPIM – Delegacy of Crimes against Intelectual Property.
The police was monitoring the salers activities for 2 months before the action. Among the seized items, sneakers of Nike, Adidas and Vans were being sold for R$ 30,00 each pair. The goods will be destroyed.
Besides the counterfeit products, 10 people were taken to DRCPIM headquarters. They shall be responsible for the crime of selling counterfeit goods, as described in article 190 of the Industrial Property Code, which provides as imprisonment of one to three months or fine.
