Federal Police Highway seizes about 5 thousand pars of counterfeit tennis shoes.
The goods were in a pickup truck at Fernão Dias highway with destination to Brás whereabouts, in São Paulo.
The Federal Police Highway (PRF) seized 4.600 pairs of counterfeit tennis shoes about 9 am this Wednesday morning (29th), at Fernão Dias highway, close to the municipally of Vargem, in São Paulo. It was a routine operation when the police stopped a Mercedes Benz truck with a São Paulo license plate and, after checking the documents of the vehicle and its occupants, which had no irregularities, the agents proceeded with an inspection.
When checking the load compartment, they found a great number of tennis shoes of different brands, with strong signs of counterfeiting. The two men who were in the vehicle said they had no fiscal document or any other one to prove the origin of the products.
According to the PRF, the men said that the goods were coming from Nova Serrana in Minas Gerais and would be delivered in Brás, in São Paulo. Those involved did not want to give any address or names of the recipient.
The truck, the goods and the two men were taken to Vargem police station. Both men were indicted for counterfeiting crime, that is punished from 3 months to 1 year or detention or fine, and released.
